To render children to readers - Polish and Norwegian picture book, there are successive meetings with literature within lasting project of the Foundation of Initiatives Socially Responsible entitled „ Promotion of the Norwegian children's literature in Poland ”. 27th March 2009, from 10.00 to 16.00, at the Philological– Historical Department of the University of Gdansk takes place the conference with the participation of specialists from Norway and Poland.
The purpose of the meeting is to introduce to participants advantages of the picture book which is the essential stage in the education and the emotional and intellectual development of child.
In the program there is a lot of interesting issues from this subject, discussions and presentations of the picture book which is the major support in accustoming children to the world surrounding them.
It often helps to understand matters which at the stage of the preconciousness are difficult to explain with words only and is a big support for adults in difficult conversations with the youngest.

Kristin Ørjasæter - Norwegian children's literature in 1814-2008; The national identity.
Gaute Heivoll - The author of the poetic story about how to manage with the loss of close person and mourning - „ Heaven behind the house”
Maria Molicka ( the psychologist, the member of the European Company of the Psychology of the Health and the author of many academic publications from the scope of the child psychology. She is doing fairy tale therapy) – The role of the fairy tale/story in the stimulation of children's narrative thinking.
12.40 – 16.00
Hanne Kiil - Representative of the Norwegian Institute of the children's fiction – The big problems of small children. Contemporary Norwegian picture books.
Maria Sibińska - „It is immposible that the outer space doesn't simply have the end, but it is also impossible that it ends". Child facing the secret in the Jona Fosse's story „ Kant ”- the edge of the outer space.
Ewa Świerżewska - (the translator and the reviewer of the children's fiction, the member of the management of the Polish section of IBBY, the general editor at www.qlturka.pl ). Lilliputian publishing companies absolutely needed - about what we would loose, if some people didn't get the courage and the stubbornness.
Dina Roll-Hansen from NORLA – The cooperation with translators and publishing houses in Poland.
World in words and images in interpretation of UG students - . „ The old man and the whale ”by Stian Hole.
