Visit in Oslo
zdjecie

This year from 7th to 9th September Norwegian Institute for Children's Books in Oslo prepared lectures in which FISO, together with and 5 volunteers, had an opportunity to participate.

On Monday, after being welcomed by Kristin Řrjasćter we had the chance to visit the library. We were guided by two librarians who showed us how the library works as well as told us about the books collected there. At first lecture Hanne Kiil was speaking about today's Norwegian children's literature. She talked about most important books from last years. This showed us how Norwegian writers deal with difficult problems and subjects referring to children. We met with Gro Dahle afterwards. She is an author writing for children so she presented her books explaining how she works on them. The last lecture was conducted by Dina Roll Hansen from NORLA. It was a lesson on problems that may occur when translating Norwegian books to other languages. NORLAorganizationwas establish to promote Norwegian literature abroad and we were told about its work.

On the next day we met with Dag Larsen who is the head of the writer's school in Oslo. He told about foundation of this school and what were the reasons behind establishing it. We heard about what people can learn at this school and why it is so important. We also met with Ketil Kolstad from the association '!Read'. The association aim is to motivate young adults to reading and building positive attitude towards books. We have learned about various actions undertaken to reach this goal.

Kjersti Lersbryggen Mork was the first person we met during the last day of our visit to Oslo. She was speaking about Norwegian books for young adults exploring topics that can be found there. Next appointed meeting was with Harald Rosenlow-Eeg, an author who writes for young adults. He presented his way to became a writer, depicting ways in which he works. Additionally he shared thoughts and reflections not only on his own books, but the young adults literature in general. At the end we visited 'The Literary House' where we met with the representatives of ‘Books for everyone’, an organization supporting readership. We found out how many people tend to have difficulties with reading. It was also a lesson of how an organization may be helping them. It was inspiring to watch and evaluate the results of their functioning.

All in all we believe that the visit in Oslo was very successful. Experiencing how much can be done to promote readership was truly inspiring. A direct effect of that is plenty of fresh ideas that came to our minds. It should be said that we also hope for a closer cooperation with Norwegian side in the future.
