Inauguration

On the 26th of November the Foundation of Initiatives Socially Responsible invites you to the inauguration of the Promotion of Norwegian children's literature in Poland. The project has been carried out for the last 15 months within Poland and Norway. It will start with a conference in Gdańsk during the third Baltic Meetings of Illustrators.

As a part of the conference there will be held a meeting with Hilde Ringen Kommedal, the author of Do you think daddy cries?- a story about a little boy going through the process of mourning. The book may be helpful as an introduction to conversation between adults and children about death. It is also an introduction to the conversation about difficult topics in children's literature.
During the event you will be able to watch
a performance based on the book prepared by Theatre Group Apart from that .

Kristin Ørjasæter - a representative of the Institute of the Children's Book in Oslo - will speak about the history of Norwegian children’s literature. Her presentation will be enriched by an exhibition of posters depicting the development of words and illustrations in books for children. The exhibition will be opened during the conference between 11am and 3pm .

On the 27-28th November the Baltic Sea Culture Center is organising meetings where the leitmotives are trolls, gnomes and dwarfs - heroes of the Scandinavian mythology and their presence in literature, visual arts and music. Also native dwarfs and elves like those from Maria Konopnicka’s fairy tales will be recalled, presented in a new incarnation in contemporary stories for children. There will be conducted a discussion with the artists, an exhibition of the illustrations, a concert and workshops.
